rps annihilation

9 × 9 board · 3 kinds of piece

The first of five rock-paper-scissors games that the designer of intransitive built and rejected on the way to it. Three pieces a side on a 9x9 board, all moving as chess kings, with captures that go round in a circle: rock takes scissors, scissors takes paper, paper takes rock. You win by taking everything. Its designer rejected it for two stated reasons -- the play is 'just going back and forth and back and forth', and a player who wants a draw can usually force one, because a position reduced to a rock each is dead by construction.

Score 0.609 out of 1, the average of four runs, under scoring rules version 12, measured 19 October 2026. The score is how interesting a game looks when the computer plays it, out of 1.
